Lords reform to defeat the ends of Project Fear

comment submitted to the Herald this morning...

it was typically cack-handed of Blair to reform the Lords by removing exactly the wrong Peers...the hereditaries, and to create even more of the toady variety.
The great thing about the hereditary Peers of the Realm, apart from their fabulous eccentricity, unpredictability and spirit of  indomitable independence was the fact that they were highly unlikely ever to agree that our sovereignty ought to be handed on a plate to a fascist organisation hellbent on turning the world into a corporate fiefdom and destroying democracy in the name of some secret Project that nobody is ever allowed to have any meaningful control over, apart from the tiny handful of self serving bureaucrats that run the horror show on behalf of their corporate masters.

We ought to bring them back and rid ourselves of the failed politicians and their appointed horde  of lacqueys.

But of course, that would place a limit upon the sovereign power of the Commons to do as they please, even to the extent of ending meaningful democracy.
which sovereign power was stolen from us the people, in the person of our  Sovereign King, a few hundred years since, in their self proclaimed glorious revolution.

and now look at the mess they have made of us, we are to become ever more weak and removed by degree from the ability to control our own land and lives.
